The painting
Amber light spills from a small-paned cottage window dressed with a green holly wreath, while an iron lantern glows beside it. Snow drifts along the sill and blankets the shrubs below, and fat flakes fall through the blue-violet dusk. The contrast of warm gold against cool snow is what makes it sing.
