A little stone bridge in a green summer shade
Hidden bridges are one of the quiet joys of an old garden: you only find them by wandering. This scene has that secret, shaded feeling. It is calm, green and cooling, lovely on a warm-toned wall or above a desk.
The painting
A moss-softened stone footbridge arches over a slow stream carpeted with lily pads and small pink blooms. Willows hang like curtains on both sides, and sunlight filters through in bright dabs of lime and gold. The greens range from deep jade to pale spring, with touches of blush to lift them.
